Yet another cricketing cliche

How many times have you heard the phrase

"... was unceremoniously dropped from the team..."

I mean, you can't exactly say "Hey, sorry we need to kick you out of the team. Let's party!". How do you ceremoniously drop a player (unless the whole Chappell-Ganguly media hoopla could be construed as a ceremony :P)?
