End of days

This is brilliant - my last few days in Pune couldn't have been spent better. I am getting to experience all things that I won't expect to see in Arizona and the US in general - a great food fest day in day out, incessant rains and a blissful 10 hours of uninterrupted power cut 2 days in succession.

Whatever happened to originality?

Just came to know that Farhan Akhtar is thinking of a remake of the 1970s AB starrer Don. My first reaction was one of mild surprise that comprised the following exact words: "What?" and the next thought provoking one was "Why?" After all, here is a average joe film that has featured such acrobatic antics as a Praan holding a kid in each arm, doing a one-legged tightrope walk that would have made even our Prime Minister look up in awe, to be followed by a farcical gravity defying fight sequence that would have made Sir Isaac Newton turn in his grave - and I am not even getting started on the 'rare' co-incidences. If only we could send such skill to London in 2012, we might just quadruple the nation's Olympic medals tally since....like ever.

What's more surprising is that people like Shahrukh Khan are actually excited about the whole thing. I simply fail to understand what can be so memorable, let alone inspirational in this movie at all to deserve even a talk of a remake! Next thing we know, someone might be thinking of a remake of something like Dus. Now that I think about it, it would be better if Dus is remade as an animation film. I actually enjoyed Dus though - few films turn out be so hilarious under the pretext of trying to be serious.

Anyway, after Dil Chahata Hai and Lakshya, we surely expected something even better Farhan.
